100+ law firm partners and legal department leaders, along with an expert D+I advisor, worked together in structured teams over five months to innovate ways to defend and fortify D+I in the legal profession. Participants then gathered to present their unique ideas during a “Shark Tank”-style pitch event in San Francisco to a judging panel and a packed audience of 200+ leaders.
Natalie Kernisant, MoFo’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, served as one of the event’s influential judges. Her role focused on assessing solutions that ranged from apps designed to empower individuals to promote inclusivity, to tools ensuring distribution of quality work for all, which is essential for career advancement.
The scoring was focused on three key criteria: 1) impact potential (to ensure the solutions are scalable and have a long-term positive impact); 2) feasibility, ease of adoption, and potential for buy-in from stakeholders; and 3) measurability (how progress will be tracked and measured for impact).
This year’s three winning solutions included:
- Guardians of the DEI Universe, Solution: BUILD
- Control + Alt + Interrupt, Solution: Leadership Escalator 10.0 (LEX)
- Bias Busters, Solution: Inclusion Hub
The winning solutions will be further developed and piloted later this year. To learn about all the solutions presented during the Hackathon, including more about this year’s winning ideas, read Diversity Lab’s press release.
