National Pro Bono Week is the perfect time to celebrate the firm’s pro bono accomplishments and the people who have dedicated their time to making it all possible. It is also a great time to reflect upon and to renew our commitment to serving communities around the world. We are proud that we had so many great stories to add to our 2018 fall edition of MoProBono and we look forward to many more to come.
MoFo pro bono attorneys put in countless hours on critical, highly-relevant matters – such as assisting in reuniting families separated at the U.S. – Mexico border, leading workshops in Africa to arm local lawyers with information on implementing UN Guiding Principles (UNGPs) on Business and Human Rights, and challenging Georgia’s unsafe election system on behalf of voters.
MoFo chair Larren Nashelsky mentions that “these are just some of the examples of the extraordinary pro bono and community-related work that you will read about in the fall edition of MoProBono,” and that “our lawyers’ willingness to take on matters and initiatives to help make the world a better place is nothing short of inspiring.”
Stay tuned throughout the week as we’ll be sharing more from MoProBono as well as announcing the recipient of the firm’s fifth annual Kathi Pugh Award on October 26. This great honor will be presented to the individual who best exemplifies Kathi’s commitment to pro bono service. The winner will be given the opportunity to grant a $10,000 donation to a nonprofit legal organization of his or her choice.
Additionally, we’ll be distributing firmwide daily emails, inviting all attorneys and staff to participate in the MoProBono Trivia Contest. The daily winner will be granted $200 to donate to the legal services organization of his or her choice.
We will also be sending daily Celebrate Pro Bono Ideas to encourage employees to consider the many ways they can contribute to our firm’s pro bono mission – whether it is donating, volunteering, or simply sharing these stories with a friend or colleague. Pass it on!
