Women in Business: The Rise of International Arbitration in Asia

On February 28, more than 30 women leaders gathered at the BVLGARI Ginza Tower in Tokyo to attend the fifth in MoFo’s Women in Business dinner series. This year’s theme was focused on “The Rise of International Arbitration in Asia.”

Sarah Grimmer, Secretary-General of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, provided the evening’s keynote remarks. Her presentation focused on three main themes, including:

  • What are the advantages of international arbitration?
  • What is driving the increase in international arbitrations?
  • What is the role of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre?

Louise Stoupe, co-chair of the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Trial group, provided the evening’s introduction remarks.

Women leaders from a wide variety of industries attended the event, including client representatives from Accenture, Hitachi, MetLife, Nokia, SoftBank, and Mitsubishi.

Established in 2014, the Women in Business event series provides a forum for women business leaders in Japan to discuss substantive topics while fostering and building their professional connections and networks.
