What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day is a day to remind us that women’s achievements should be acknowledged and celebrated every day and not only once a year.

Describe a way that you’ve seen a colleague at MoFo press for progress.

I am lucky to work with partner Elizabeth Sluder. Every day I learn something new from her. Elizabeth is a very smart and successful woman and a strong supporter of women’s development. To the extent possible, she makes an effort to staff women in her projects. She leads the team and is always open to teaching and learning new things. This formula always turns into successful results and happy clients.

What woman most inspires you, and why?

I do not have any particular woman who inspires me the most. I strongly believe that every woman has her own battles to fight which make her special and inspiring.

However, if I had to choose a woman who inspires me the most, I would choose Eufrosina Cruz. I recently met Eufrosina during a women’s event in Mexico City. Listening to her passionate story of adversity made me cry. Eufrosina is an indigenous Zapotec woman. She has fought for equality of political rights for women in Mexico as well as for the social development of indigenous communities in Mexico.

During 2012 and 2014, she accomplished two constitutional amendments that granted indigenous women in Mexico the right to vote. In 2017, she was included in Forbes magazine as one of the “100 Most Powerful Mexicans.”
