On February 26, a team of runners from MoFo’s Tokyo office participated in the 2017 Tokyo Marathon as part of the “Run with Heart” charity program. The team — the first ever organized by the Tokyo office — joined over 3,000 runners who pledge to raise money for charity, in their race to the finish line in one of the largest races in Asia and one of six World Marathon Majors.
Members of the marathon team included Alice Lin, Ebony Nicolas, Michiyo Siegel, Mariko Obana, Yuichi Inase, Daigo Takahashi, and Yukiko Horiguchi. Together, they raised more than ¥400,000 for their charities of choice: the Ronald McDonald House Japan, Special Olympics, the Japan Association for UN High Commissioner for Refugees, and educational work for areas stricken by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
The Run with Heart program was founded in 2011 as a way to unite marathon runners in their commitment and efforts to social activism. To qualify, charity runners must raise over ¥ 100,000 in donations to charities that benefit the global environment, worldwide refugees, and children’s health programs.
