Jina Choi, litigation partner in Morrison & Foerster’s Securities Litigation, Securities Enforcement, and Investigations + White Collar Defense Groups, is one of the many lawyers leading the way for MoFo.

Jina represents public and pre-IPO companies, financial institutions, asset management firms, boards of directors, audit, and special committees and individuals in internal investigations, SEC and other government investigations, enforcement-related litigation as well as compliance-related issues. She is highly experienced in handling matters related to financial reporting and accounting, disclosure, insider trading, offering fraud, investment adviser and broker dealer fraud, auditor misconduct, market structure and the FCPA.

Five things you should know about Jina are:

  1. Before she came to MoFo, she spent the over 16 years at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where she was head of the San Francisco Regional Office for five years.
  1. During her tenure with the SEC, Jina oversaw investigations, examinations and prosecutions in Northern California, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho and Alaska related to tech companies, asset managers, investment advisers, broker dealer and auditors.
  1. Jina is a frequent speaker at industry and legal symposiums such as the Securities Enforcement Forum West, Bar Association of San Francisco, and Stanford Directors’ College.
  1. In addition to her experience at the SEC, she served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of Texas and as a trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
  1. Her strength as a lawyer comes from being able to see things from different perspectives. When it comes to representing clients in complex investigations, she feels that it is particularly important to have a diverse team.
