Christine Wong is a partner in our San Francisco office in our Investigations + White Collar Defense practice. Her practice focuses on investigations, white collar criminal defense and cross-border compliance matters. Christine utilizes her unique background as an internal advisor and a federal prosecutor to anticipate roadblocks, devise strategies, and confidently advise her clients through complex and often bet-the-company situations. She has extensive experience overseeing investigations and cross-border compliance matters with a focus on anti-bribery and corruption, antitrust, competition, and export control.
- In two to three sentences, describe your practice. My practice is focused on investigations, white collar criminal defense and cross-border compliance matters. I conduct internal investigations on behalf of companies who have identified potential misconduct, and defend companies and individuals who are the targets of government investigations. I also work with companies to develop and implement compliance programs to address issues such as antitrust, bribery/corruption, and other regulatory matters.
- Why did you choose to make MoFo your professional home? I had worked with MoFo as a client, and was able to observe firsthand MoFo’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. In particular, I saw partners mentoring women associates and promoting their work, which I greatly appreciated. I also saw that MoFo was committed to growing its white collar and investigations practice, and I could join a deep bench of leading practitioners in that area.
- Describe a time when you were part of a diverse team that really benefited from its diversity. In my previous role as Head of International Compliance at a multi-national technology company, I worked with a truly global team. We figured out solutions for shared problems through exchanging our knowledge of local practices and customs. While we had some heated discussions in the group, in the end, the diversity of experience and opinion allowed us to see potential risks and benefits through different lenses, and made each local solution stronger.
