Diverse in Practice: Privacy + Data Security

MoFo’s Privacy + Data Security Group is highly regarded for its multidisciplinary approach to providing some of the world’s largest and best-known global enterprises and smaller organizations with actionable, practical advice. With over 100 countries which have enacted their own data protection laws, the firm has ensured that we are strategically positioned to meet clients where they operate, with over 60 talented lawyers across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

The Privacy + Data Security team’s in-depth knowledge has been a valuable asset to companies in some of the most highly regulated industries, from financial services and healthcare to pharmaceuticals. The team assists clients by advising on compliance and risk management, establishing programs and policies, negotiating agreements,  providing employee training, responding to regulatory inquiries and investigations, and, where necessary, entering litigation.

MoFo’s Privacy + Data Security Group is no stranger to earned recognition from top legal publications, such as Chambers and The Legal 500, for its well-established practitioners, its deep bench, and its rising stars. A large part of its success can be traced back to the group’s beginnings and an early focus on ensuring that the practice was built to not only deliver excellent client service, but to also embrace innovation and diversity.

While the field of privacy has long included many senior and powerful women, MoFo partner and co-chair of the firm’s Global Privacy + Data Security Group Miriam Wugmeister made it a point to ensure that the firm brought people to the practice from a variety of different backgrounds. Miriam’s dedication to identifying, recruiting, and retaining diverse, LGBTQ+, and women attorneys is rooted in her belief that the practice and the broader legal community as a whole is improved with the addition of every underrepresented person who joins and succeeds in the field.

Our Diverse in Practice series highlights some of the many inclusive practice groups that are leading the way for MoFo.
