Bold, Brilliant, Accomplished: Jennifer Marines

Jennifer Marines is a partner in MoFo’s New York office. She is a member of the Business Restructuring & Insolvency Group and deputy chair of the firm’s Finance Department.

She is one of many Bold, Brilliant, and Accomplished women lawyers at MoFo:

What do you like best about your work?

Being a bankruptcy lawyer is like being a jack (or jill) of all trades. Every new engagement exposes me to a new industry (energy, financial services, retail, hospitality, manufacturing) and keeps my practice fresh, interesting, and a challenge.

What is your favorite book?

I have so many favorite books—reading is how I relax on my daily commute—but an all-time favorite, which I am rereading now, is the Secret History by Donna Tartt.

What’s been the key to your success?

The key to being successful is surrounding yourself with people who will support you, introduce you to new opportunities, and challenge you when you are not focused in the right direction. I have been fortunate to have several such people in my life, ranging from work colleagues who have mentored me from the time I was a summer associate to my three beautiful children, whose smiles at the end of the day make it all worthwhile.
