Bold, Brilliant, Accomplished: Elizabeth Sluder

Elizabeth Sluder is a partner in MoFo’s Los Angeles office and a member of the Project Finance Group. Her practice focuses on project finance, M&A, private equity, and general corporate advice.

She is one of many Bold, Brilliant, and Accomplished women lawyers at MoFo:

What do you like best about your work?

A large part of my practice involves representing developers in the development, construction, and operation (or sale) of renewable energy projects. The best part of that practice is a combination of knowing the work makes a tangible difference to our clients, the overall economy, the environment, and the future; rarely doing the same thing twice (which staves off boredom!); and seeing all the “paper pushing” turn into an actual renewable energy project.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In my free time, I like to check items off my “101 goals in 1,001 days” list, which has become a long list of things I’d like to try. I often have several goals underway at any given time. Current active goals are getting my pilot’s license, running a half-marathon, and learning to cook 30 recipes. (The last has been ongoing for a few years because I don’t cook. Ever!)

What’s been the key to your success?

I would attribute my success to keeping an open mind to new opportunities. In law school, I was 100 percent convinced that I wanted to be a litigator. Now I’m a transactional lawyer who specializes in renewable energy. Never saw that coming!
